About the Whiskey

For this year's Monster Mash release, the Monster prowls an eerily familiar hotel hallway, an homage to one of the most iconic horror films of all time.

Under the direction of Master Distiller John Schrepel, this year’s blend takes the madness to new depths.

Inside each bottle lies a mash bill of truly supernatural proportions: 28% malted white corn, 23% white corn, 28% malted wheat, 13% malted rye, and 8% malted barley.

Words of wisdom to those daring enough to indulge: all work and no whiskey makes anyone a dull boy.

Tasting Notes
nose:

About the Whiskey

For this Distillery Reserve Series release, we began with our rye whiskey aged for 2.5 years and finished it in ex-Madeira casks for 11 months. The results yield a rich, complex flavor profile and the final product is delectable. The Madeira barrel finish adds layers of orange peel, roasted nuts, and walnut oil to the rich spice and fruity undertones of the rye.

Tasting Notes

NOSE:
Earthy and sweet, a splash of spiced plum & cedar, hints of creme brulee, red and black currant, & root beer candy.
PALATE:
Oily and dense with flavors of sweet molasses and charred oranges, lightened by notes of roasted almonds, nutmeg, brown sugar, & pipe tobacco.
FINISH:
Gripping finish with hits of cherry cordial, soft leather, graham cracker crust, & candied ginger.

About the artist

As we do every year, Still Austin engaged Austin illustration legend Dan Grissom to create the 2025 Monster Mash label. Originally from rural Louisiana, Dan has been designing, painting, print-making and making music out of his garage in Austin for many years, completing celebrated posters for artists ranging from Metallica to Kings of Leon, Big Thief to Hayes Carll. For 2025, his signature tree monster prowls an eerily familiar hotel hallway, an homage to one of the most iconic horror films of all time.
