What happens when you combine the mystery of old-world Spain with the brash spirit of Texas? You get Still Austin’s new, ultra-limited-edition rye bourbon, which our distillers have finished in a Pedro Ximénez sherry cask. The result is a sweet, deceptively dark spirit, reflecting the nuances of the Spanish oak.
Distiller John Schrepel says he’s thrilled with the outcome. “Although it was finished in a sherry cask, this bourbon still shines brightly,” he says. “The sherry complements the bourbon extremely well, bringing sweetness and added spice—and one of the longest finishes I’ve tasted in a barrel-finished spirit.”
We here at Still are giddily looking forward to the Nov. 16th release date for this sherry-cask-finished holiday offering, available exclusively in 375ml bottles. “This bourbon has taken on unique characteristics,” John explains. “The bourbon is sweet from the sherry, but it also throws some nice smoke. It’s very well rounded and velvety.”
The 375ml bottle, which retails for $40 exclusively at the Still Austin distillery, makes the perfect holiday gift for the bourbon lover. Those interested in purchasing the Sherry Cask Finished Bourbon are encouraged to arrive early at Still Austin Whiskey Co. distillery on Saturday, November 16, as this ultra-limited edition release of 1,300 bottles is expected to sell out quickly. Doors open at 12:00pm. Bottles numbered 1-200 will be available to the first customers through the door. The first 200 will receive two whiskey nosing glasses and
the first 50 will also receive a free branded cocktail shaker. Head Distiller John Schrepel will be on-hand to autograph bottles until 2:00pm and everyone will have the opportunity to purchase limited-edition signature cocktails which will only be served that day.
